“Soooo, that’s what healthy food tastes like!”  I am speaking of course about Baby Cakes. It’s a quaint bakery located in New York’s trendy lower east side. They specialize in making all their products with organic, all natural, and free from the common allergens. Like many, I’m not used to eating such healthy baked goods. Mine tend to have butter cream, sugar, etc. I must say though, with Baby Cakes, I may be seeing the light. I was finding that when food is made with all natural ingredients, your tongue tends to notice every little flavor. What a new sensation! It’s almost like we’ve been brainwashed into eating these chemically made products. It’s real food and it’s actually great. To test this place out, we ate the basics. A few different cupcakes and cake slices would suffice. The cupcake flavors were chocolate and ginger.

My favorite part for each of these was the frosting. It was sooooo creamy. The ginger in the cake jumped right out at ya! As for the cakes we had blueberry crumb cake and double chocolate crumb cake.

Once again, the best part is the frosting. This girl knows her frosting! Tasting the blueberries brought me back to when I was a little kid growing up on a farm in Connecticut when we would pick the blueberries right off of the bushes in front of our house. These are the real deal, and really good. As for the chocolate crumb cake, it being natural added so much to it. A whole new level of chocolate I’ve never experienced. One might call it chocolate nirvana. I loved it!

Baby Cakes has so much more to offer besides their cupcakes and cakes. They have muffins, cookie sandwiches (can’t wait to try these!), scones, pies, cinnamon buns, brownies, and it goes on and on. The best part is how you’ll never feel guilty eating any of this as everything on the menu is all natural and healthy. So feel free to stuff your face to your hearts content. It may be a bit of a walk from most trains in the city, but it is totally worth it.
