  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey or chili-infused honey
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight).
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne. Place panko breadcrumbs in another dish.
  3. Coat chicken: Remove chicken from marinade; dredge in flour mixture, dip back into buttermilk, then coat with panko.
  4. Bake: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a rack on top. Arrange chicken on the rack and drizzle with melted butter. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Make sauce: Heat honey and hot honey in a saucepan until warmed through.
