  • 1 pound fresh salmon (cut into 4 equal pieces)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth or water
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Remove salmon from the fridge and let it sit for 15–20 minutes at room temperature. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, lemon juice, ginger, chicken broth, and cornstarch.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter; once hot, sear the salmon skin-side down for about 5 minutes.
  4. Flip the salmon carefully and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes until nearly done.
  5. Add remaining butter to the skillet and pour the sauce around the salmon. Let it bubble for about 30 seconds before removing from heat.
  6. Spoon the glaze over the salmon and serve immediately.
