  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together applesauce, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in diced apples and nuts if using.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
